In recent years, natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons have occurred frequently, making it increasingly important to be prepared for emergencies.
“Camping gear” for spending time in nature without electricity, gas, or running water is also the ultimate disaster-preparedness equipment for surviving an emergency.
We introduce recommended gear for “phase-free” preparedness, allowing the tools you are familiar with using in everyday camping to be useful in an emergency as well.
Emergency Toilet (Portable Toilet)
During a disaster, the most serious problem is often the “toilet.” When the water supply stops, flush toilets cannot be used. This emergency toilet offers high absorbency and deodorizing power, greatly reducing the stress of life in an evacuation shelter. It is easy to use—simply place it over an emergency toilet or a household toilet.
Water Bag
An essential item for carrying water from a water distribution point during a water outage. It folds compactly when not in use, so it will not take up much space in an emergency backpack. Its durable material prevents leaks, and it also serves as a water jug for camping.
AERO BASE (Extra-Thick Air Mat)
Sleeping on the hard, cold floor of an evacuation shelter or in a car consumes more physical energy than you might imagine. The 10-cm extra-thick “AERO BASE” mat with built-in urethane completely blocks the cold from the ground. In addition, the removable electric pump battery can also function as a mobile power bank or LED light in an emergency.
Self-Inflating Pillow
This pillow automatically inflates when you simply open the valve. Keeping it with a mat helps reduce strain on your neck and shoulders and allows you to get quality sleep even in an unfamiliar environment. It packs down compactly when deflated.
LED Lantern “Zento - Yugen”
Darkness during a power outage can heighten anxiety. “Yugen,” with up to 40 hours of continuous illumination, lights the surrounding area with a gentle, warm glow and provides peace of mind. It can also be used as a flashlight with its bottom light, making it ideal for evacuating or moving around at night.
Alcohol Stove Holder
When the electricity is out and there is no cassette stove, this provides a valuable heat source for boiling water and enjoying a hot meal. As an ultralight, compact combination trivet and windscreen, it should be kept in an emergency bag together with solid fuel or an alcohol stove.
Fire Starter
This survival gear can reliably start a fire even in harsh environments without a lighter or matches. It is dependable as a last resort for staying warm or securing a light source.
